Can You Improve Golf Swing Speed With Training Aids

Golf swing speed is one of the key factors in hitting your drives as far as possible. Golfers of all ages and abilities are always trying to get more out of their drivesaren’t you? But what’s the most effective way to achieve higher swing speed?

There are many new training aids on the market promising more distance and higher clubhead speed, but out of most of them, there are only a few that succeed. I say this, because the one limiting factor is your current physical status. If you don’t improve your golf specific strength and flexibility, you’re “dead in the water” no matter what!

Training aids can only do what your body will let them!

So that leaves you with a combination of the right training aid for golf swing speed improvement and a program focusing on core strength and flexibility to get you to move that club faster and in control through impact. Does that make sense to you?

Just picture it! You are not in very good shape and you step up to the tee with the intention to kill it! What usually happens? Do you get that distance on the shot you hoped for? Did you keep it in the short grass or did you blow it in the woods?

Golf swing speed means nothing if your swing is out of control, and some of these new training aids don’t mention this. All they focus on in their advertisements is faster and faster swings.

Excuse me if I’m not correct, but ball-to-clubface contact is one of the key factors in maximizing distance. If you have a heel or toe shoe, doesn’t matter if you’re swinging at 140 mph, the ball isn’t going anywhere, or at least anywhere you want it to go!

So next time you see a television commercial or read an ad in one of the golf magazines for a training aid that promises higher golf swing speed, does it talk about swing efficiency and control at the same time? If it doesn’tmove on to the next training aid.

Golf Improvement Information - Can It Help Or Hurt Your Game

Golf improvement is a huge topic for most golfers, but are they (you) getting the right information to actually improve your golf swing and game? There is a glut of golf improvement articles, tips and advice, but be careful what you read.

Choose Your Information Wisely

How many times has someone volunteered a tip to you and your swing only got worse? How about information on the net? Ever tried to apply it in hopes for a better game? I know golfers have, because I receive hundreds of emails everyday from frustrated golfers. Golfers ready to quite the game because they are not improving or enjoying the game anymore.

Next time you receive volunteer advice, consider the source. Are they a professional in the teach field? Worse case, can they play good golf themselves? How well do you know them to trust the information will actually help your game? I don’t want to turn you into a hypochondriac, but being aware isn’t a bad thing either.

How Many Golf Tips Do You Need?

There are a gazillion golf tips you can put into your head, from every magazine, newspaper, teaching pro and resource known to man! How many tips can you keep in your head and actually apply when you’re on the course? I know for me…maybe 1, at the most 2! Anymore than that and it’s “paralysis-by-analysis” for me.

Now I am not knocking golf tips. When my swing goes south, all it takes is a golf tip I used in the past to get back on track. Notice how I said, “a golf tip”, not tips? There is always a nugget that may turn your game around, just don’t overdo it…and again…consider the source of the tip before you file it in your brain for use on the course.

Take Advice Sparingly

Every golfer wants to give out advice to their buddies. This is not a good thing most of the time. What may work for them, won’t necessarily work for you. Take any advice with a grain of salt. If it seems to make a little sense to your particular situation, then give it a try on the range first. If it works…take it to the course.

I just want you to be aware of golf improvement information and don’t get caught in the trap of overwhelming yourself. Your game will go downhill faster than you can blink!

Golf Swing Trainers Are A Dime A Dozen

The golf training aid market is a booming market. Golfers are rabid and will pay any amount of money in hopes to play better golf. There is a new golf swing trainer coming out every month it seems like!

I am not against the use of training aids, but am a little skeptical with all the promises some of them make during their commercials or in their print ads. They all promise more distance, accuracy and lower scores.

There are several “tried-and-true” golf swing trainers I still use today that I got over 8 years ago. They are very effective and great to go back to if your swing goes south on you, but some of the newer ones are hokey and not effective.

The most important thing to look at is what the swing trainer does. Is it close to actual movement of a golf swing? Does it seem logical for your golf swing fault? Is it reasonably priced? Can you try it first before you buy it?

There are several out there right now that do not mimic the golf swing and ingrain poor swing mechanics and improper muscle memory habits. I will not bad-mouth that they are, but if it doesn’t closely resemble a mechanically sound golf swing, it is not worth spending the money on.

Results! The bottom line!

In the end…did it improve your particular swing fault? Were you able to take it to the course and actually make good swings for 18 holes? So many times golfers buy these golf swing trainers, use them a couple of times, and never see results.

You cannot ever blame the training aid if you don’t use it!

Like anything…do it consistently to give it a fair chance. Make a point to use it daily at first. Most of things swing trainers can be used right in your home or even your office, so it’s very convenient to use.
